Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated every year on 7 December in the country.
The purpose of Flag Day is to express gratitude for the selfless contribution made by soldiers towards the nation.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has appealed to the people to contribute wholeheartedly to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.
He asked them to join the efforts of the government to ensure the welfare of brave women, ex-servicemen and their families.
On August 28, 1949, a committee constituted under the Defense Minister had decided to celebrate Flag Day every year on December 7.
This day is celebrated every year since December 7, 1949.
