  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced that it had issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the operation of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's new airline, 'Akasa Air,' in India.
  • "Akasa Air will serve all Indians with warmth, inclusiveness, and respect, regardless of their socioeconomic or cultural backgrounds."
  • Among other things, the airline will need an Air Operator Permit for scheduled air transport service from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation before it can begin flights in India.
  • The airline intends to begin domestic flights in the summer of 2022.
