'Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana' is the central scheme for distribution of food grains to the poor in the country.
Recently this scheme has been extended for 5 years.
This was announced by the Prime Minister in Chhattisgarh.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, beneficiaries get five kg of wheat or rice.
The central government first started it on 30 June 2020.
After that it has been extended on several occasions.
Currently this scheme was to end in December 2023
Now after an extension of 5 years, people will continue to get the benefits of this scheme till December 2028.
