Project Tiger, which is administered by the National Tiger Conservation Authority, oversees 53 tiger reserves in India (NTCA).
India is home to 80 percent of the world's tiger population. Tiger numbers climbed from 1,411 in 2006 to 1,706 in 2010, 2,226 in 2014, and 2967 in 2018.
According to the World Wildlife Fund and the Global Tiger Forum, the number of wild tigers in the world increased from 3,159 in 2010 to 3,890 in 2016.
