The central government has permitted exports of 14,000 tonne of non-basmati white rice to Mauritius

  • Non-basmati white rice exports have been banned since July 20, 2023, to bolster domestic supply and stabilize prices. 
  • Export permissions for non-basmati white rice are granted exclusively through the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) under the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
  • Limited exceptions allow the export of non-basmati white rice to specific countries, including Nepal, Cameroon, Cote D' Ivore, Guinea, Malaysia, Philippines, and Seychelles, to maintain trade relationships and fulfill international commitments.
