Soren becomes first Jharkhand CM to visit former Maoist hotbed 'Budha Pahad'

  • Hemant Soren became the first chief minister of Jharkhand to visit ‘Budha Pahad’ near the Chhattisgarh border – once a Maoist bastion, which was wrested from the Red rebels’ control by security forces after more than three decades.
  • He has also announced the launch of several welfare schemes in 'Budha Pahar', located along Latehar and Garhwa districts, about 150 km from Jharkhand state capital Ranchi.
  • The security forces succeeded in recapturing the area from the hold of the Maoists through three special operations launched from the beginning of April 2022.
  • A total of 14 Maoists were killed, while 590 others were either captured or surrendered.
  • On the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Aapki Yojana, Aapki Sarkar, Aapke Dwar program was organized in different villages of Budha Pahad. So far, more than 6000 villagers have been covered under various schemes.
