  • In December 2023, the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has suspended the Indian Wrestling Federation.
  • Apart from this, the Sports Ministry has also put a stay on all the decisions taken by the newly elected President of Indian Wrestling Federation, Sanjay Singh.
  • After being elected President of the Indian Wrestling Federation, Sanjay Singh had announced to organizing a national competition for the under-15 and under-20 age groups in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.
  • The ministry said that this announcement was made in haste and no prior information was given to the wrestlers participating in the competition.
  • The Ministry said that such decisions are taken by the Executive Committee of the Federation, before which such an agenda is required to be placed for consideration.
  • Indian Wrestling Federation was established in the year 1958.
