  • Recently the Indian Air Force has installed S-400 air defense system on the borders with China and Pakistan.
  • 3 S-400 air defense systems have been deployed by the Indian Air Force on the China-Pakistan border.
  • India had signed an agreement with Russia for S-400 air defense system for Rs 35000 crore in the year 2018-19.
  • The S-400 defense system is a mobile, surface-to-air missile system designed by Russia.
  • It is the most dangerous operationally deployed long-range surface-to-air missile system in the world.
  • This system is 30 km. At an altitude of up to 400 km. It can engage all types of aerial targets including aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles and ballistic and cruise missiles within its range.
  • It can track about 160 targets at a range of up to 600 kilometers.
  • After tracking, the missiles fitted in it automatically destroy the target.
