Recently anti-submarine shallow water craft 'Amini' has been launched for the Indian Navy.
Amini was launched in Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu.
Chief of Materiel Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani was the chief guest at the launch ceremony.
Amini is built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers.
The name Amini reflects the strategic maritime importance of Amini Island in Lakshadweep.
Its displacement capacity is 9000 tonnes.
A total of eight anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft are to be built for the Navy.
Amini is the fourth water craft of these.
It will replace the Indian Navy's aging Abhay-class corvettes.
