  • Recently anti-submarine shallow water craft 'Amini' has been launched for the Indian Navy.
  • Amini was launched in Kattupalli, Tamil Nadu.
  • Chief of Materiel Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani was the chief guest at the launch ceremony.
  • Amini is built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers.
  • The name Amini reflects the strategic maritime importance of Amini Island in Lakshadweep.
  • Its displacement capacity is 9000 tonnes.
  • A total of eight anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft are to be built for the Navy.
  • Amini is the fourth water craft of these.
  • It will replace the Indian Navy's aging Abhay-class corvettes.
