NHAI Increases Toll Charges By 4-5% Nationwide To Fund Highway Expansion

  • The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has increased toll rates by an average of four to five percent on highway stretches across the country. 
  • Revised toll rates for drivers on national highways have come into effect from April 1, 2025. 
  • There are approximately 855 user fee plazas on the national highway network where charges are levied according to the National Highways (Rate of Fees and Collection) Rules, 2008. 
  • Of these, around 675 are publicly funded fee plazas and 180 are toll plazas operated by highway developing companies.
