  • Three elected women representatives have been selected for the program “Women Leadership in Local Governance in India”. The program will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on 3 May 2024.
  • Vivek Bhardwaj, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, has led the Indian delegation to the UN event, which will be attended by Neeru Yadav, Supriya Das Dutta and Kunuku Hema Kumari.
  • The programme "Localisation of SDGs: Women's Leadership in Local Administration in India" is being organised by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, India's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
  • The event hosted by India will be held during the 57th session of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD57), which will be held in New York, United States from 29 April – 3 May 2024.
  • The India-sponsored "Localisation of SDGs: Women Leadership in Local Administration in India" programme focuses on the crucial role of Indian women in grassroots level political leadership, which contributes significantly to achieving sustainable goals of gender equality, poverty eradication, and inclusive growth at the grassroots level.
