Mamata launches housing scheme for rural poor in Bengal

  • West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched the "Banglar Bari" scheme to provide houses to the rural poor in the state.
  • Under this scheme, 28 lakh beneficiaries will be provided financial assistance of Rs 1.2 lakh.
  • The Chief Minister transferred the first installment of Rs 60,000 directly into the bank accounts of 12 lakh beneficiaries, which will help the poor of rural Bengal to build houses.
