Lithuania’s parliament has approved Social Democrat leader Inga Ruginiene as the country’s new Prime Minister. Currently serving as the Minister of Social Security and Labour, she now has up to 15 days to present her Cabinet list, which must be agreed upon with the President and then approved by Parliament. Once the President signs the appointment decree, she will formally assume office. Ruginiene, elected to Parliament in 2024, earlier served as chair of the Lithuanian Trade Union Confederation.
