  • India hosts the ISO Council Meeting in New Delhi, showcasing its prominence as the world's largest consumer and second largest producer of sugar. 
  • The meeting aims to foster international cooperation among over 30 countries to address critical issues in the sugar and biofuel sectors.
  • A workshop titled ‘Sugar and Biofuels – Emerging Vistas’ will be inaugurated by Shri Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy. 
  • This event brings together over 200 delegates, including international experts and industry leaders, to discuss sustainability, global perspectives, and the role of farmers in biofuel production.
  • Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Global Biofuel Alliance initiative, the meeting aims to strengthen international collaboration on sustainable biofuels. 
  • Discussions will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through ethanol production from sugarcane, highlighting India’s technological advancements in biofuel production at the industrial tour in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
