India and Australia commenced the fourth edition of their joint military exercise AUSTRAHIND 2025 on 13 October 2025 at Irwin Barracks in Perth. Around 120 Indian troops, led by a battalion of Gorkha Rifles, are participating in the exercise. The drill focuses on enhancing interoperability and operational readiness between the two armies through company-level joint operations in urban and semi-urban terrains. It includes training in joint planning, tactical drills, and special arms skills. The two-week exercise, running until 26 October, aims to strengthen defence cooperation and camaraderie between India and Australia, further boosting trust and partnership in the Indo-Pacific region. The exercise follows Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent visit to Australia, highlighting the rapid growth of strategic ties between the two nations.
