The Government of India has appointed former Reserve Bank of India Governor Urjit Patel as Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a three-year term. The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, following the recall of former CEA Krishnamurthy V. Subramanian from the post earlier this year. Patel, a noted monetary economist, served as RBI Governor from 2016 to 2018, after having worked as Deputy Governor for over three years.
