First Solar City of Uttar Pradesh

  • Ayodhya is a municipal corporation of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Ayodhya will become the first solar city of Uttar Pradesh.
  • The responsibility of making Ayodhya the first solar city of the state has been entrusted to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
  • NTPC will set up a 40 MW capacity solar power plant in Ayodhya.
  • A solar park will also be built on the banks of Saryu river.
  • According to the proposed plan, all public transport, street lights and boats of Ayodhya will run on solar energy.
  • Recently Sanchi in Madhya Pradesh has been declared the country's first solar city.
