Corruption Perception Index 2021 released

  • India has been ranked 85th out of 180 countries in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2021. 
  • According to a report released by Transparency International, India's ranking has improved by one place compared to the last time.
  • A ranking of 180 countries and territories is compiled based on perceived levels of public sector corruption. 
  • This ranking is determined using a scale of 0 to 100 points. Where the country getting zero marks is the most corrupt while the country getting 100 marks is considered very good from the point of view of corruption.
  • Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, and Norway topped the list with the highest scores. Except for Bhutan and China, all neighboring countries of India are below this.
