  • ‘World Statistics Day’ is celebrated all over the world on 20 October. Whereas the National Statistics Day of India is celebrated on 29 June. 
  • The day was established in 2010 by the United Nations Statistical Commission to put a spotlight on the importance of statistics and the significance of academic research on the development of civil society and business.
  • The theme of Statistics Day, 2022 is “Data for Sustainable Development”.
  • The day celebrates the role of statistics and statisticians in improving the world we live in and marks the anniversary of the founding of the United Nations Statistical Commission in 1947.
