· It was decided to celebrate 29 September every year as World Heart Day to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke.
· This day is celebrated every year to make individuals aware of the prevention and control of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD).
· The day was first observed by the World Heart Federation in collaboration with the World Health Organization on 24 September 2000. The idea of celebrating this day was conceived by Antoine Bey de Luna, former President of the World Health Federation.
· The theme of World Heart Day 2021 is 'Use Heart to Connect'. It aims to highlight the power of digital health to improve awareness, prevention, and management of CVDs globally.
