A new study led by Professor Anupam Bhardwaj from the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) has made a major breakthrough in measuring the Universe’s expansion rate. By studying 40 oxygen-rich Miras in 18 star clusters, with data from ESA’s Gaia mission, the team was able to measure their brightness and create an accurate period-luminosity relation.
