Veteran Kannada filmmaker Joe Simon passed away at 80 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest during a meeting at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). He collapsed while actively participating in discussions about future initiatives.
Joe Simon had a prolific career spanning several decades, contributing to over 100 films as a director, actor, lyricist, and writer, including hits like Sahasa Simha and Mr. Vasu. Tributes poured in from fans, colleagues, and political leaders, with Karnataka Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar called his death an “irreparable loss” to Sandalwood. His work left a lasting impact on Kannada cinema and its audiences.
