  • The Uttarakhand cabinet put its stamp on the new sports policy, which includes several schemes to nurture the budding sports talent in the state and several incentives for the players representing the state at the national and international level.
  • Under this new sports policy, a physical and sports skill test will be conducted for the children of the age of 8 years so that the work of locating their idols can start at the right time.
  • For high priority sports, 'Centers of Excellence' will be set up in the state and under the 'Mukhyamantri Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojna', budding sportspersons will be given Rs.15 hundred per Month to boys and girls in the age group of 8 to 14 years based on merit.
