The United States secured the Olympic gold medal in women’s ice hockey with a thrilling 2–1 overtime win against Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. The victory marked America’s third Olympic gold in the sport and its first since 2018.
Canada took the lead in the second period through Kristin O’Neill’s short-handed goal, putting the previously unbeaten U.S. side under pressure. With under three minutes left in regulation, Hilary Knight equalised to force overtime.
Just three minutes into sudden-death overtime, Megan Keller scored the decisive goal, sealing a dramatic comeback and reaffirming one of the fiercest rivalries in international women’s hockey.
