Union Cabinet Greenlights Establishment of Three Joint Secretary Positions to Bolster Support for the 16th Finance Commission, Headed by Arvind Panagariya
Arvind Panagariya appointed as the chairman of the 16th Finance Commission on December 31.
Ritvik Ranjanam Pandey named as the secretary to the commission.
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the creation of three posts for the 16th Finance Commission.
The 16th Finance Commission is tasked with providing recommendations on tax sharing between the center and states.
It will review financing for disaster management initiatives and suggest measures for resource augmentation of panchayats and municipalities.
