  • The United Kingdom has unveiled a new set of stricter road safety regulations, including ‘Dev’s Law’, named after an eight-year-old Indian-origin boy who was killed in a tragic road accident on a busy highway in 2018.
  • The Department for Transport (DfT) said the new road safety strategy aims to save thousands of lives by cracking down on drink driving, improving training standards for young learner drivers, and introducing mandatory eye tests for older motorists.
  • The measures will also make Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) compulsory in new vehicles, a key demand campaigned for by Dev’s mother, Meera Naran, since the loss of her son more than seven years ago.
