  • The use of two new Covid vaccines as well as an antiviral oral medicine has been approved by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.
  • The names of these two covid vaccines are CORBEVAX and COVOVAX, and the antiviral drug is Molanupiravir. Molanupiravir is recommended to be taken only in case of emergency.
  • Corbevax Vaccine is an RBD protein subunit vaccine produced in India by Biological E, a Hyderabad-based company. COVOVAX Vaccine is manufactured by Serum Institute.
  • The total number of vaccines approved for emergency use has now risen to eight.
  • Covishield, Covaxin, Sputnik V, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and ZyCoV-D are the only Vaccine that have received approval so far.
