Celebrating Tripuri Linguistic Heritage: Kokborok Day 2024 Commemorates 46 Years of Official Recognition
Tripura, January 19, 2024, the Indian state of Tripura observes Kokborok Day, also known as Tripuri Language Day, dedicated to nurturing the Kokborok language.
This significant day pays tribute to 1979 when Kokborok received official recognition, marking the 46th anniversary this year.
“Kok" means language, "borok" means people
The occasion annually underscores the enduring demand for preserving Tripura's ancient language, spoken for millennia within the Tripuri community.
