  • Roads & Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced the upcoming implementation of the Gruha Jyothi scheme by the state government, which aims to provide free electricity up to 200 units to eligible domestic consumers starting from the February month.
  • The announcement of the Gruha Jyothi Scheme, offering 200 units of free electricity, led to widespread confusion among citizens, resulting in many refraining from paying their electricity bills in anticipation of the scheme's implementation.
  • To address this confusion, the Telangana government clarified that only individuals who have cleared their electricity bills for December 2023 and January 2024 are eligible to benefit from the Gruha Jyothi Scheme. Any outstanding arrears during this period would disqualify applicants from availing the scheme's benefits.
