Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh has set an inspiring example by declaring 75 panchayats as ‘Child Marriage-Free’. This milestone, achieved under the “Healthy Women, Empowered Families” campaign and National Nutrition Month, marks two years without a single case of child marriage in these panchayats. The success is credited to awareness drives, active community participation, and strict monitoring by the Women and Child Development Department. The model is now being replicated in other districts as Chhattisgarh works towards becoming a Child Marriage-Free State.
