  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on April 7, 2025 announced special livelihood schemes worth Rs 216.73 crore besides developing deep sea fishing harbours at Thangachimadam, Pamban and Kundukal at a cost of Rs 360 crore for the benefit of fishermen in districts around the Gulf of Mannar.
  • The aim of these schemes is to make the fishermen economically empowered and self-reliant.
