Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on April 7, 2025 announced special livelihood schemes worth Rs 216.73 crore besides developing deep sea fishing harbours at Thangachimadam, Pamban and Kundukal at a cost of Rs 360 crore for the benefit of fishermen in districts around the Gulf of Mannar.
The aim of these schemes is to make the fishermen economically empowered and self-reliant.
