Scheduled Tribe Commission

Recently Maharashtra Government has announced the formation of State Scheduled Tribe Commission.
This commission will be established on the basis of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes of the Central Government.
It will be a statutory body.
A bill related to this commission will be introduced in the winter assembly session.
This decision was taken in the meeting of the State Tribal Advisory Council.
The council was chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Currently 13 districts are recognized as scheduled areas in Maharashtra.
