Legendary santoor player Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, who gave the little-known instrument an exalted status with his art, died of a heart attack in Mumbai.
The Jammu-born artiste was 84.
He has worked with several other legendary people like flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia and guitarist Brij Bhushan.
Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991. He received Padma Vibhushan in 2001.
