  • Russia has sent a 320-tonne VVVER-1,000 MW nuclear reactor to the sixth unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu, built by Russia's atomic energy agency Rosatom.
  • The Kudankulam project is being built in three phases, each comprising two reactors of 1,000 MW each. Russia provides enriched uranium fuel and pressurized heavy water reactors (VVERs) for this project.
