India's Jain spiritual leader Lokesh Muni has been honored with the US Presidential Gold Volunteer Service Award for his contribution to the welfare of people and humanity.
Muni, founder of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharati and World Peace Center in India, was honored with the award by Democratic Congressman Brad Sherman at the US Capitol.
Established in 2003 during the tenure of President George Bush, the U.S. President's Volunteer Service Award honors individuals who have dedicated at least 500 hours of volunteer service, made a positive impact on communities and inspired others.
