Sam Pitroda, a renowned Indian engineer and entrepreneur, recently launched a book titled "The Idea of Democracy," addressing concerns about the state of democracy, particularly in countries like India and the United States of America (USA).
Published by Penguin Business, the book explores potential challenges faced by democratic systems, shedding light on crucial aspects that need attention and improvement for the sustenance of democracy.
Sam Pitroda, also known as Satyanarayan Gangaram Pitroda, has held significant positions such as the founding Chairman of India's Telecom Commission, the inaugural Chairman of the Worldtel Initiative of the International Telecommunication Union (1995), and the establishment of the Center for the Development of Telematics (C-DOT) in 1984, among others.
His contributions to various technology missions related to water, literacy, immunization, oil seeds, telecom, and dairy have earned him recognition, including the prestigious Padma Bhushan award in 2009.
