  • In January 2024, the Government of India has submitted application for Wetland City recognition to Indore, Bhopal, and Udaipur.
  • This application has been submitted to the Ramsar Convention.
  • This application has been presented by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
  • These are the first three Indian cities for which nominations have been submitted for Wetland City Accreditation based on proposals received from the respective State Wetland Authorities in collaboration with Municipal Corporations.
  • Wetland City Recognition (WCA) scheme was launched in the year 2015.
  • This voluntary scheme provides an opportunity for cities that value their natural or man-made wetlands.
  • Ramsar Convention was implemented in the year 1975.
