  • I.N.S. Imphal was commissioned into the Indian Navy by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
  • In November 2023, the extended range supersonic BrahMos missile was tested from the same warship.
  • This was the first time that the BrahMos missile had been tested from a warship.
  • I.N.S. Imphal has a displacement capacity of 7400 tonnes.
  • It is equipped with 32 Barak - 8 missiles, 16 BrahMos anti-ship missiles, 4 torpedo tubes, 2 anti-submarine rocket launchers, 7 types of guns.
  • It is the third guided missile destroyer of the Visakhapatnam class.
  • Once commissioned, the ship will join the Western Naval Command.
  • I.N.S. Imphal is built by Mazagon Dock Limited.
