  • In January 2024, Himachal Pradesh Government has launched Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Startup Scheme.
  • This scheme encourages rural youth to install solar power plants on their land.
  • This will encourage self-employment opportunities.
  • Persons in the age group of 21 to 45 years will be eligible for this scheme.
  • Under this scheme, if youth set up a 100-kilowatt power plant on three acres of land, they can get a monthly income of about Rs 20,000 for 25 years.
  • Under the scheme, the beneficiary has to pay a security deposit of 10%.
  • The government will provide 70% bank loan facility and 30% equity.
