In December 2023, Parliament passed the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
It has already been passed by the Lok Sabha.
The Bill will amend the Central Universities Act 2009.
It will establish central universities for teaching and research in different states.
The Bill provides for setting up a Central Tribal University in Telangana.
The name of this university will be 'Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University'.
This will pave the way for higher education and research facilities primarily for the tribal population of India.
