  • In December 2023, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Labor and Employment Bhupendra Yadav has launched the National Transit Pass System.
  • The National Transit Pass System (NTPS) aims to establish a 'One Nation-One Pass' system.
  • It aims to ease transportation of timber, bamboo, and other forest products across the country.
  • The Union Minister also mentioned several other recent initiatives of the Ministry including the Indian Forest and Wood Certification Scheme and the Trees Outside Forest Initiative.
  • Transit permits issued through this system will be valid throughout India.
  • No additional documents will be required when crossing the state border.
