Pakistani archaeologists have uncovered rare decorative stones and Kushan-era bronze coins at Bhir Mound near Takshashila, shedding light on one of Gandhara’s earliest urban settlements. The 6th-century BC lapis lazuli fragments and 2nd-century AD coins, depicting Emperor Vasudeva and a female deity, indicate long-distance trade and religious pluralism. The discoveries highlight Taxila’s prominence under Kushan rule as a cultural, economic and intellectual hub, enriching knowledge of ancient urban life, art, and cross-cultural interactions in the Gandhara civilisation.
