  • The Delhi government has decided to implement the Centre’s ‘Rah-Veer’ scheme to encourage citizens to assist seriously injured road accident victims.
Under the scheme, helpers ensuring treatment within the ‘golden hour’ will receive a cash reward of ₹25,000 and a certificate of appreciation.
  • The initiative aims to reduce road fatalities by promoting timely medical response in emergency situations. Legal protection is provided under the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019, which safeguards Good Samaritans from harassment. The maximum reward per accident is ₹25,000, even if multiple victims are saved. Additionally, 10 outstanding Rah-Veers will receive a national award of ₹1 lakh annually to promote responsible and compassionate action.
