The Punjab government has imposed a ban on the sale of hybrid rice seeds (non-basmati rice) due to their high prices and their tendency to cause a higher percentage of breakage during milling compared to the standards set by the Food Corporation of India (FCI), leading to lower prices for farmers' produce.
