Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unveil the huge 125-feet statue of Bir Lachit Barphukan.
Bir Lachit Barphukan displayed his valour in the Battle of Saraighat in 1671, becoming famous for stopping the Mughal invasion.
The construction of the statue and memorial of Bir Lachit Barphukan is an important part of Assam's historical heritage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also hold the Griha Pravesh ceremony for the Sivasagar Medical College in Jorhat and the 5.5 lakh houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for Assam.
