For the first time in the Indian Navy, the responsibility of commanding an entire warship has been given to a woman sailor.
Lieutenant Commander Prerna Devasthali will be the first woman officer of the Indian Navy to command an entire warship.
He has been appointed by Rear Admiral Praveen Nair, Commander of the Western Fleet.
Devasthali 'I.N.S. Has been elected commanding officer of 'Trikand'.
Commander Prerna Devasthali is now 'I.N.S. Posted at 'Chennai' in the role of First Lieutenant.
She served as the first female observer on the Tupolev Tu-142.
It is a maritime reconnaissance aircraft.
She has also worked on P.8I.
