· Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda recently informed that his ministry will launch Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana covering 36,000 villages across the country.
· Under the Rural Development Program, priority will be given to villages with 50 percent tribal population.
· Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) is a rural development program launched by the central government in the financial year 2009-10 for the development of villages that have a high proportion of people belonging to the Scheduled Castes (more than 50%).
· The program has been launched to enable integrated development of villages by bringing in several development programs focused on improving basic needs including electrification, housing, sanitation, water supply and rural roads.
