Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Dhordo village in Bhavnagar, Gujarat, as a fully solar-powered “Solar Village” during the ‘Samudra Se Samriddhi’ program. The village now has 177 kW solar capacity, generating around 2.95 lakh units annually, significantly reducing electricity bills and potentially earning over ₹13 lakh by selling surplus power. Dhordo became Gujarat’s fourth fully solar-powered village under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, promoting clean and renewable energy in rural India.
