·       Former UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Nguka has been named this year as the recipient of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation 2021 Global Goalkeeper Award.

·       She has been honored for her continued advocacy in fighting for gender equality and addressing the disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women and girls.

·       As part of its annual Goalkeepers campaign, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation also announced the winners of three additional Goalkeepers Global Goals Awards: Faroz Faiza Beether from Bangladesh, Jennifer Kolpas from Colombia and Satta Sheriff of Liberia.
