  • Australia Test captain Pat Cummins has been picked to lead the side in ODIs following the retirement of Aaron Finch from the 50-over format.
  • Cricket Australia endorsed Cummins to become Australia's 27th ODI captain and lead the team at the 2023 World Cup in India.
  • Cummins will become the first fast bowler to captain Australia men's team in limited-overs as well as the first bowler to lead since Shane Warne, who stood in 11 ODIs in late 1990s.
  • Warner was banned for life from leadership positions for his role in a 2018 Newlands ball-tampering scandal and could be considered for a vice-captaincy role if the punishment is commuted after a review.
