Australia Test captain Pat Cummins has been picked to lead the side in ODIs following the retirement of Aaron Finch from the 50-over format.
Cricket Australia endorsed Cummins to become Australia's 27th ODI captain and lead the team at the 2023 World Cup in India.
Cummins will become the first fast bowler to captain Australia men's team in limited-overs as well as the first bowler to lead since Shane Warne, who stood in 11 ODIs in late 1990s.
Warner was banned for life from leadership positions for his role in a 2018 Newlands ball-tampering scandal and could be considered for a vice-captaincy role if the punishment is commuted after a review.
